Loaves and Fishes

What We Do
St. Teresa serves the needs of our community by offering a Loaves and Fishes dinner for the elderly and homeless of the area. We provide a welcoming environment in which individuals are treated with dignity, respect, and courtesy. Our parish offers hot, nutritionally-balanced meals on the first, second and third Fridays of the month. We also partner with local restaurants to help prepare and serve our meals.
In addition to the meal, we also provide a “to go” sack lunch which usually includes a sandwich, piece of fruit and a juice box.

At each meal, parishioner volunteers serve approximately 70 guests; that equates to over 200 dinners served per month.

Typical tasks carried out by ministry volunteers include:

· Shop for groceries
· Prepare meals
· Set tables with plates and utensils
· Serve the meals and socialize with the guests
· Cleanup includes washing dishes, vacuuming, wiping down table and chairs
· Prepare sandwiches that are distributed to our guests at the end of the meal.

Time Commitment
Preparation of the meal begins at 3:30 pm, service begins at 5:00 pm and clean-up concludes by 6:00 pm. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to one Friday a month.
