Walk the Camino in Chicago!

During each weekend in the month of October, all are invited to participate in Local Caminos with the St. Teresa of Avila Parish Community.

A series of four walks in Chicago are planned as a tangible sign of our solidarity with Fr. Frank and fellow parishioners walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Collect stamps in a Camino Passport at designated stops along the way. Walk one or walk them all!

Sign-up sheets will be available in the entrance to the Parish Center starting the weekend of September 13th/14th.   For more information about the local caminos, please contact Tom Micinski (tmicinski@stteresaparish.org).

Walking & The Way

Friday, October 3rd at 5:30PM
Start at Daley Plaza, End at St. Teresa

Enjoy a leisurely walk home through Chicago’s beautiful River North, Near North, Old Town, and Lincoln Park neighborhoods. Walk with fellow parishioners after work from Daley Plaza to St. Teresa. Upon completion of the walk, enjoy refreshments and dinner, followed by a showing of the movie The Way, a powerful story filmed entirely along the Camino de Santiago. The Way inspired Fr. Frank’s decision to walk the pilgrimage.

Church Architecture

Saturday, October 11th at 8:30AM
Start & End at St. Teresa Parish Center

Join parishioners for a weekend stroll through Lincoln Park to explore the architectural beauty of the neighborhood’s many Catholic Churches: St. Mary of the Angels, St. Josaphat, St. Clement, & St. Vincent de Paul.  Take a look inside the neighborhood Catholic churches. Receive each church’s official seal on your passport to create a unique collection of the seals from Lincoln Park’s Catholic Churches.

Camino On the Lake

Saturday, October 25th 9:00AM
Start & End at St. Teresa Parish Center

Experience a full day’s journey on the Camino, Chicago-style. We will walk approximately 12 miles, a distance similar to Fr. Frank’s daily journey during the Camino de Santiago. In community with fellow parishioners, we will soak in the beauty of Lake Michigan and the magnificence of Chicago’s skyline.   Take a break, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, have some time for prayerful reflection, and regain your energy before heading back to St. Teresa.
